My super famous and talented neighbors Gilbert & George, have worked together since meeting at art school in 1967, are known for their immaculate tweed suits and often shockingly subversive and frank artwork involving sexual themes, religious symbolism and bodily fluids.
The latest exhibition, London Pictures, portray a new face of London, comprising 292 pictures based on the 3712 newspaper-sellers posters they have stolen over the last six years.
And it is just how you would expect their art to be, political with their faces stamped all over it. Despite the artists being dressed in the tweeds of romantic austerity, with a wink and cheeky smile, this work is neither lightweight, nor aesthetically pleasing, grinding grim headlines from carefully selected tabloid posters, in ghotic red and black.
The exhibition was held at the White Cube galleries in London on March 08 this year as part of a 13 gallery world tour but you can still get some of the art in the link below.
